4 Ways to Prevent Buying Clothes That You Don't Need

We all do it. Buy clothes that we really didn't need. Not that I'm against shopping all the time, I just get frustrated when I end up with clothes in my closet that I never wear. So here are just a few tips that you might already know, but are pretty dang helpful in the long run.

Problem # 1 - Buying doubles of things.
Solution: If you're anything like me, you find a shirt (or something) that you like, and buy it in every color. Don't do this. Find the color that you like most and buy that. If you're dying to have the same style in a different color, go back and get it. Don't buy them on the same day. (Chances are, you'll get infatuated with the garment and think you want it in every color, when in all reality you don't even like some of the colors you picked out).
Example- I have this shirt from Target in 6 different colors. Excessive, right? It's a wonderful shirt to have, goes with everything. But I really only wear the black and grey one (my favorite colors).

Problem # 2 - Buying things that are too big or small just because you're obsessed with it and they don't have your size.
Solution: If they don't have it in your size, ask if they have it in back. If they don't have it in the back, ask when they will. If they're going to get a new shipment in soon, wait it out and buy it when your size comes in. If they're not going to get one in again, buy it one size larger ONLY IF you plan on getting it tailored. If you don't plan on getting in tailored, please, just don't buy it. You'll either be walking around looking frumpy in a size too big, or it will sit in your closet and be a waste of space.

Problem # 3: Buying things simply because they're on sale.
Solution: If you're madly in love with it, buy it. If you're not freaking out about it, leave it on the rack. If you're in between, buy it. (It's on sale, you probably wont ever see it again and you'll regret not buying it). Things on sale usually tend to be the things you regret not buying.

Problem # 4: Buying clothes that aren't compatible with your lifestyle.
Solution: Think about what you do on a daily basis. Are you like me, where you stay at home all day every day except on the weekends when you go grocery shopping? Then you might not want to buy that super dressy cocktail dress or those black slacks. I'm not saying you shouldn't dress up, cause' if you know anything about me, you know that I'm all about looking cute on a regular basis. Just don't buy things that you're never going to have the chance to wear. Those 4 inch heels when you never even go out, slacks, super fancy blazers. If your lifestyle doesn't require those items, you might not want to buy them.
